Anschutz Exploration is now hiring a Contract Produced Water Manager for the Powder River Basin.


Job Description & Duties:
The Produced Water Manager will be responsible for managing and operating Anschutz Exploration Corporation’s (AEC’s) produced water facilities in the Powder River Basin. Responsibilities will include tracking associated data and reporting to management, managing water trucks to eliminate standby time, execution of safe & environmentally sound operations on all water facilities. This position prepares, maintains, and submits daily reports on water volumes, well pressures, and chemical usage.  This position requires experience and understanding of water facilities and infrastructure as well as identifying any limitations for potential upgrades of the system.  Seeking a candidate with a strong personal commitment to safety and protecting the environment in all activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Water Resource Management: Develop and implement strategies for effective water management in production, completions, and drilling operations.  This includes sourcing, treatment, transfer, storage and disposal of water.  Identify and mitigate risks associated with water transfer and infrastructure. 
  2. Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with production, completions and drilling to optimize water usage and minimize environmental impact.  Work with Production Foremen and other field personnel to optimize the use of water trucks and various offloading points to reduce truck time and eliminate standby time.  Work with completions and water transfer companies to pull water from pits and pipe produced water from other operators to AEC’s pits as needed.  Act as a liaison between various departments and external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies and local communities regarding water-related concerns.
  3. Routine Duties:  Collect, analyze and maintain water usage and daily data to support operational efficiency and compliance in PRAMS and Spotfire.  Conduct regular inspections and AVOs on all water facilities equipment, which includes but is not limited to the following: injection wells, oil & water tanks and associated levels, pumps, SWD facilities, other associated equipment to ensure all equipment is in good working condition.  Transfer oil out of gun barrel and settling tanks when necessary.  Prepare oil for sale.  Skim oil off pits as necessary as well as monitoring pit levels and diverting flows as required.  Monitor and optimize chemical treatment program.  Witness gauging and tests, ensuring accuracy of run tickets as required.  Represent the company in delivery/receipt of materials and equipment.
  4. Regulatory Compliance Support: Ensure adherence to environmental regulations related to water management by assisting in the preparation of reports and documentation for regulatory agencies.  Conducting regular site inspections to monitor water infrastructure (pits, pipelines, SWDs) to ensure compliance with established SOPs and industry best practices.  Maintain positive relationship with local, state and Federal representatives and surface owners.
  5. Safety & Incident Reporting: Maintain regulatory, environmental and safety compliance in conjunction with the Operations Engineers, Superintendents, Foremen and Environmental Health & Safety Department.  Help in reporting and managing any water quality incidents or spills, following company protocols.  Ability to stop work if unsafe conditions exist or are suspected.  Provide field wide contact with all personnel in the event of emergency or other significant occurrences.
  6. Budget Management: Manage budgets related to water management projects and initiatives.  Maximize profitability of these assets for AEC.
  7. Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Minimum 5 years of experience in water resource management, particularly within the oil and gas sector.
  3. Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and standards related to water management.

  10. Basic competency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Spotfire.
