Job Description:


The College of Wooster is seeking a Senior Associate Director of Recruitment and Diversity Outreach. This position is an integral member of the admissions team responsible for daily management of key initiatives including but not limited to territory management, travel planning, off-campus events, and initiatives to enroll underserved student populations. This position supervises administrative and student staff whose primary responsibilities involve recruitment activities for special-interest groups (multiethnic and underserved populations). They may also serve as the liaison to key campus partners and organizations such as athletics, alumni, center for diversity and inclusion, and POSSE Scholars.
  • Manages the daily responsibilities of territory managers (all counseling staff) in addition to direct supervision of staff who work closely with campus partners and key constituents to ensure we meet enrollment goals (community-based organizations, athletics, alumni, counselors)
  • Collaborates with Executive Director and senior leadership to develop annual territory and travel strategies rooted in data and market analysis; establish annual territory assignments and goals
  • Trains and advises all territory managers regarding recruitment travel initiatives including college fairs, high school visits, off-campus interviews, and meetings/events with college counselors
  • Coordinates annual communication and outreach efforts to recruit talented students from underserved communities
  • Leads efforts to cultivate awareness and partnerships with community-based organizations and partners such as Collegiate Directions, Inc., Noble Chicago Charter schools, I Known I Can, and Say Yes Cleveland.
  • Supports training of all enrollment staff members regarding messaging and cultural competency to develop effective relationships with U.S. multicultural population and its advocates
  • Liaison with alumni engagement office and co-coordinates alumni volunteer activities including the annual Global Interview Day and off-site yield receptions
  • Serves as member of final review committee for application and scholarship assessment
  • Manages a recruitment territory, including interviewing, application review, communication/outreach, counselor cultivation, and recruitment presentations/travel. Advises prospective students and families regarding the college admission and financial aid processes.



Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree from accredited four-year college or university
  • Valid U.S. driver's license
  • Five to seven years of direct or related admissions experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, showing ample initiative, but also be an effective contributor to the team.
  • Appreciate and pay attention to details and unique strategies when recruiting young adults and their family members and advising them about the college search and financial aid processes.
  • Demonstrate cultural competency and value continued training and education regarding diversity and inclusivity.
  • Demonstrate effective professional diplomacy on and off campus. Must be able to keep information confidential, demonstrating the utmost high levels of ethical behavior and confidentiality of managerial decisions and information within the enrollment leadership team.
  • Possess strong organizational and time management skills, while using effective critical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient and adaptable with technology including Microsoft Office suite and computer work; previous work with CRM such as Slate is highly preferred.
