Brief Description
GreenPower is seeking a senior level human resources manager. The position will serve as the head of human resources for all U.S. operations. The Senior Manager will plan, develop and coordinate all hiring and retention strategies; implement policies, activities and legal compliance; coordinate training, educational and compliance programs; and manage office operations, payroll and beneftis. This position requires a high level of organization, implementation skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Repsonsibilities
- Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies, processes, training, initiatives and surveys to support the organization’s human resource compliance and strategy needs.
- Administers or oversees the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation analysis, benefits and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
- Monitors and ensures the organizations compliance with federal, state and local employment laws and regulations and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Collaborates with leadership to understand the company's goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting and retention
- Identifies staffing and recruiting needs, develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management.
- Provides professional expertise and support in the design, development and implementation of the talent review process that is required to achieve business goals and results in the creation of an internal team of top talent.
- Develops and implements creative and innovative sourcing strategies and techniques to build a pipeline of qualified candidates.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes and new technologies in human resources, talent management and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice and resources to upper management.
- Coordinates professional development, training, and certification activities for staff.
- Takes the lead in the research, development, drafting, publication, and distribution of the employee handbook, conducts informational meetings, training sessions, and other communication forums to explain and discuss human resource policies.
- Implements, conducts, facilitates and/or analyzes results of employee morale and retention initiatives such as incentive programs, stay interviews, career development meetings, employee surveys and exit interviews.
- Provides guidance, coaching and resources to managers and supervisors on employee communication strategies, assists with challenges such as low morale, high turnover, absenteeism, layoffs, and other difficult conversations.
- Develops, initiates and maintains effective programs for workforce retention, promotion and succession planning.
- Manages the execution of the performance management system, including current job descriptions, standards of performance and performance evaluation instruments.
- Creates and maintains an environment of equal employment opportunity, diversity and competitive advantage in support of the company's diversity and inclusion strategic plan.
- Recruits full-time, part-time, temporary, contractual and intern personnel. Manages full life cycle recruitment (post, source, prescreen, schedule, background, references, offer, onboarding, etc.).
- Complete hiring process within defined metrics to minimize overall time-to-start. Develops appropriate marketing strategies, define roles and responsibilities of the hiring team, and develop service-level agreements to ensure an effective and efficient recruitment lifecycle while minimizing cost-per-hire.
- Creates, organizes, plans and presents various forms of onboarding, orientation and skills training for employees.
- Develops unique training programs to fulfill workers’ specific needs to maintain or improve job skills.
- Drafts and distributes reference materials such as open enrollment materials, goal and performance review initiatives, and summaries of perks and benefits.
- Administers employee insurance programs including life, disability and health insurance plans.
- Administers employee savings plans that may include the company's 401(k) plan, personal savings plan, and deferred compensation programs.
- Advises and informs employees of changes and developments related to benefits including eligibility, coverage and provisions.
- Researches and compares incentive compensation plans offered by demographically comparable organizations, assesses competitors plans and makes recommendations for enhancements or improvements required to keep the organizations plans competitive and effective.
- Completes records, reporting and other documentation required by federal, state, and provider rules, regulations, and policies.
- Implements, maintains and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes and other deductions.
- Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations and changes to pay rates.
- Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
- Performs all transactional activities related to human resources and office administration.
- Maintains business licenses for all GreenPower U.S. locations.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Five plus years relevant experience in a senior human resources position, employee relations position, as an HR business partner or an equivalent role.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher or equivalent experience.
- SHRM certification required.
- Experience working in multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, diversity & inclusion, performance management and federal and state employment laws and regulations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization's hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices and the administrative practices related to those factors.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Experience in a startup culture preferred - comfortable with a fast paced, autonomous and unstructured environment.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Willingness to travel.
- Manufacturing company experience preferred.
- CRP & OSHA certifications preferred.
Physical Requirements
May require prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and computer work.
Working Environment
Work is normally performed in an interior/office work environment.

Compensation and Benefits
Compensation for the Senior Manager of Human Resources will range between $78,000 and $91,000 depending on experience. GreenPower offers an excellent wage and benefits package for full-time employees including health/dental/vision/prescription drug plan, flexible benefits plan, 401(K) retirement savings plan, life and disability benefits, paid holidays, paid vacation and tuition reimbursement.
