Job Description:


SUNY Empire State University is currently seeking a Program Manager (State Title: Senior Staff Assistant) in the Office of Diversity Equity and Inclusion. The selected incumbent must possess the knowledge, skills, and experience to support the development and maintenance of a positive and healthy university culture through education, inclusion, well-being, engagement, and the development of conflict competence.

The ODEI Program Manager will assist in the administration of programs, services, and resources offered through the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion which support the strategic goals of the President's Office. The ODEI Program Manager will work collaboratively with the Assistant Vice President/CDO to support leadership and direction, identify / implement activities, and opportunities to support a diverse campus population, inclusive of ethnic/racial minoritized groups, international and global constituents, sexual minorities, and various social classes, among other identities, in the service of building community.

Responsibilities include:
  • Assist with developing and executing a strategic and effective employee recognition program that contributes to the University's talent development strategy, creates a strong sense of community and belonging, and enhances retention in collaboration with HR and the SUNY Empire Climate Committee.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness and satisfaction of the university's engagement efforts, using data-driven insights and feedback to identify best practices and areas for improvement.
  • Cooperate in the planning, design, and implementation of anti-racism and social justice programs (i.e., film/speaker series) and events to raise awareness and support pluralistic cultural and racial education and engagement.
  • Assist the AVP-ODEI in coordinating and facilitating campus-wide diversity training and education to foster cross-cultural engagement for faculty, staff, and students.
  • Provide advising, mentoring, and advocacy to all students relative to matters of race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, gender identity, sexuality, ability, nationality, and support student affinity groups by connecting and guiding them with campus and community resources.
  • Serve as a resource, collaborator, and bridge builder to campus constituencies in the areas of intergroup relations, diversity, equity, inclusion and social justice literacy.
  • Act as convenor of the DEI Council meetings and monitor projects and support the resource needs of working groups.
  • Provide support and guidance to student affinity groups in collaboration with Student Success.
  • Stay current with all SUNY, state and federal regulations pertaining to Title IX, Violence Against Women Act and all associated regulations and policies.

Requirements:


Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of responsible administrative experience.
  • Familiarity with intersectionality frameworks.
  • Experience in organizational programming.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively while handling situations involving confidential and sensitive, and emotional information.
  • Comfortable working in a virtual environment.
  • Collegiality, and professionalism, as well as highly effective verbal and written communication skills are essential to the role.
  • Cultural competence and demonstrated success in working with diverse communities is critical for achieving success in this position.
  • Ability to compile data and draw conclusions to prepare reports.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience conducting trauma-informed interviews and/or knowledge of trauma-informed practices.
  • Student-centered with a non-bias approach when advocating and supporting students.
  • Commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and social justice for underrepresented and minoritized groups.
Special Information:
  • The preferred location for this position is Saratoga Springs, NY. Other university locations that may be considered include Rochester and Selden, NY. May involve occasional travel to university locations across New York State for meetings and professional development.
  • May require evening and/or weekend work.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Additional Information:


Rank/Salary:SL3 $57,000-$62,000, dependent upon experience and qualifications.
