Temporary Conservation Technician
OVERVIEW
The Baltimore Museum of Art (BMA) seeking a detail-oriented individual for an IMLS Conservation Technician position. The successful candidate will play an integral role in the cataloguing and photography process, completing light dusting and basic cleaning of all works to be photographed and physically assisting in the Photography Studio on the two days devoted to photography to ensure that the pace stays on track. They will work closely with staff from APSDA, Registration, and Conservation to identify works in immediate need of conservation intervention/stabilization.
This will be a 15-month, full-time, temporary position that will spend 100% of their time in Year 1 and Year 2 on the project from November 2022 to January 2024. This position reports to the Curator of American Art and Department Head, American Painting & Sculpture and Decorative Arts.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Working knowledge of principles and methodologies of museum preservation.
- Manual dexterity, and experience in safe handling procedures for sensitive works of art.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across Museum departments.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision.
- Ability to meet deadlines and exhibit clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to perform physical tasks routinely and lift up to 40lbs.
