Summary:
The School of Public Management & Policy at the University of Illinois Springfield is seeking a Clinical Assistant Professor to teach courses in support of our HMS, CAST, and MPA programs. Qualifications for the position include an earned doctorate in public administration by the time of appointment in August 2024. Teaching responsibilities include core courses within the HMS and MPA programs and elective courses. This is a co-appointment position with the Center for State Policy and Leadership, as such the successful applicant must have the ability to write and obtain grants and conduct research in alignment with the Center for State Policy and Leadership priorities. Specifically, The Alliance for Experiential Problem-Based Learning, under the Center for State Policy and Leadership in support of ongoing projects. Preference will be given to applicants that have a history of success in applying for and obtaining grant and contract dollars. Applicants should have an established record of excellence in teaching and professional service. Salary is competitive and dependent on qualifications. All faculty teach some courses in our online MPA programÍž experience in online teaching is desirable.

This is a full-time on-campus position and benefit-eligible non-tenured academic appointment. UIS faculty are expected to be available and engaged in the university community to perform professional responsibilities as assigned. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

Teaching: Teaching responsibilities include core courses within the MPA and CAST programs. Preference will be given to applicants that can offer courses in Organization Dynamics.

Service: Service responsibilities consistent with the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor.

About the School of Public Management and Policy: The School of Public Management and Policy, which is housed in the College of Public Affairs and Education, offers a NASPAA-accredited MPA program with roughly 200 students (on-campus and online), plays a significant role in teaching and serving on dissertation committees in the campus’s only doctoral program (a DPA program), and offers an undergraduate program in public administration. The School is committed to diversity and the preparation of students to address diversity in the workforce and seeks to continue its growth by prioritizing four primary areas of teaching and research: 1) Public Finance and Procurement, 2) Public Sector Human Resource Management and Labor Relations, 3) Social Equity and Impact, and 4) Data Analytics.

 

Minimum Qualifications:
Qualifications for the position include an earned doctorate in public administration by the time of appointment in August 2024, and demonstrated ability to generate in excess of $2 million in grants and contracts (total book).
