Job Summary
Ensures the efficient, safe and proper operation of the High Temperature Water ( HTW) Plants, water temperature distribution system and related equipment. Analyzes and treats various HTW problems for the campus.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
Incumbents are to respond to service calls, assess needs or damages and make decisions regarding the course of action to be taken. They can make repairs or call on the required trades, as needed. They are also to advise the appropriate administration of the situation.
The incumbent ensures proper operational control of the HTW System during normal and emergency activities. This position is responsible for taking proper action by containing failure and restoring back to normal operating perimeters.
Comments:
The employee will work a rotating shift and will receive a shift pay addition to his/her base salary.
In the event the worker leaves the rotating shift the shift pay addition will be removed from his/her base salary. This position has the potential for dangerous situations and the containment to the HTW Systems are imperative. Immediate emergency response is required, often times under difficult conditions. Will need to work in a continuous noise-producing environment.

Minimum Qualifications
Three years experience in a hot water or high pressure steam plant as a maintenance mechanic or systems operator, or equivalency; demonstrated communication skills; and a commitment to provide excellent customer service required.

Job Summary

- Ensures the HTW Plant remains operational 24 hours a day in order to provide continual heating, domestic hot water and steam for the University community.
- Monitors equipment, pumps, pressure gauges, blow down tanks and vessels.
- Monitors and records readings of water, gas, and electric meters.
- Opens and closes large and small valves in confined spaces. Lubricates gate and globe valves.
- Maintains and cleans the HTW Plant.
- Operates and Monitors the Solar Turbine and Waste Heat Recovery Systems.
- Monitors building automation systems throughout campus and communicates with proper personal to resolve issues.
