The Division of General Surgery in the Department of Surgery at the University of Washington, School of Medicine is accepting applications and nominations for two full-time faculty positions at University of Washington Medical Center. The faculty positions are at the rank of Assistant Professor without tenure by reason of funding (WOT) or Associate Professor WOT. Assistant Professors hold three-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30) and associate professors WOT hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. This position will have an anticipated start date in Summer/Fall 2024.

 

Interest, experience, and focus in the areas of Skin oncology and/or Endocrine tumors is greatly valued. This position will be based at the University of Washington Medical Center and at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center.

 

All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service. 

 

At the rank of Assistant Professor (WOT) the base salary for this position will be $27,084-29,584 per month ($325,008-$355,008 per year). At the rank of Associate Professor (WOT) the base salary range for this position will be $30,000-$34,167 per month ($360,000-$410,004 per year). Base salaries at all ranks will be commensurate with candidate experience and qualifications. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the University of Washington Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Other compensation associated with this position includes clinical productivity incentives through UWP. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in university benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UWP practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

Qualifications

 

Candidates must have completed a fellowship in Surgical Oncology and/or Endocrine Surgery. We will accept five years of experience in Surgical Oncology and/or Endocrine Surgery in lieu of the fellowship training. Prospective candidates must have an MD (or foreign equivalent) and be certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Surgery (or foreign equivalent). Must be licensed to practice medicine in Washington by the time of appointment. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
