Position Summary:

An established mining, exploration and development company is looking for a Staff Accountant to join our accounting team. This position will be an integral part of the team and be responsible for a variety of daily and monthly accounting tasks. Primary responsibilities of this position are accounts payable, purchasing activities for multiple locations, and assisting the team in the month end close process.

Responsibilities:

  • Vendor account set up and maintenance
  • Full cycle accounts payable processing for all locations
  • Maintain corporate credit card program and related expense reports
  • Prepare state sales and use tax returns
  • Maintain and manage the financial filing systems and document storage
  • Assist with Fixed Assets management
  • Assist with month end closing process
  • Assist with accounting analysis and maintain internal controls
  • Additional tasks as assigned

Education and Qualifications:

  • Two to five years of general work experience or BA/BS in Accounting or Business
  • Previous experience with accounting software (preferable Great Plains Dynamics)
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounts payable/receivable practices
  • Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and written both inside and outside the company
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently, self-starter, handle multiple priorities/projects simultaneously

Work Environment: The employee is subject to inside environmental conditions: protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.  This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

This position will be a salaried position with an anticipated salary between $55,000 and $65,000 commensurate with education, experience and background. The successful candidate will become an exempt employee with eligibility for Ur-Energy health and wellness benefits (in 2024, four choices of health insurance including HSA plans; vision and dental coverage; life and supplemental life; short- and long-term disability and a 401K Plan with a specified Company-match). Additionally, the employee will be eligible for the Company’s discretionary short-term incentive program (cash bonus based upon corporate and personal performance) and eligible for possible grants of equity compensation under the Company’s stock option and restricted share-unit plans.
