JOB TITLE:
Wyoming Public Media Corporate Development Manager
JOB PURPOSE:
Oversee revenue-generating operations for Wyoming Public Media (digital and radio) focusing on sales of underwriting (advertising) and sponsorship. Secure financial support from corporations, businesses, and foundations that meets WPM goals. Comply with FCC and WPM policies and guidelines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participate in development of sales goals based on past WPM activity, state and national economic outlooks, industry trends and analysis. Structure departmental activity in a manner that assures success in reaching goals.
- Be thoroughly knowledgeable in public broadcasting underwriting protocols and procedures, and FCC regulations. Coach staff in industry sales techniques. Motivate staff through strong mentoring and guidance. Make client assignments for underwriting staff.
- Research and cultivate Wyoming, regional, and national clients. Generate and track client prospects including their interests, financial cycles, marketing objectives, historical associations, and philanthropic activities. Secure immediate funding commitments and build long term client relationships. Identify opportunities for enhanced corporate funding from current clients. Identity client needs and recommend an effective strategy to meet their business objectives.
- Develop proposals using qualitative and quantitative market and audience research. Make presentations to clients, write FCC-compliant contracts and on-air copy, and manage follow-up client communication and stewardship. Direct and supervise staff in their proposal generation.
- Participate actively as key team member of WPM's fundraising department. Consistently report goals objectives, and progress to management. Keep abreast of activity in other fundraising departments including membership, gifts, and grants. Participate in trade organization activity, service clubs, and national professional organizations as assigned.
- Research, evaluate, and recommend industry best practices. Stay thoroughly familiar with digital product sales. diverse perspectives, and national product development that benefits WPM. Work closely with marketing and digital personnel.
- Manage the organization and maintenance of accurate client records in compliance with FCC regulations. Utilize contact management software. Keep abreast of traffic automation systems related to underwriting on-air messaging, and online messaging practices and protocols.
- Comply with WPM code of ethics and guidelines related to corporate and underwriting activity and WPM rules of engagement.

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
Experience: 3 years successful work-related experience in sales.

-Computer proficiency and data management skills.
-Excellent people-oriented skills. Ability to listen and convincingly articulate proposals.
-Demonstrated knowledge of communities in Wyoming
Required licensure, certification, registration, or other requirements: Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) that is compliant with the University Vehicle Use Policy.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated success in public media fundraising and media sales.
- Track record in building effective partner relationships.
- Knowledge of and success in selling digital accounts for podcasts.
- Experience working with national media digital accounts.
- Solid knowledge of public broadcasting sales trends and motivations.
- Self-supporting administrative, marketing, and office skills.
- Skilled at identifying and overcoming sales objections and adept at assessing client needs and providing solutions
- Public media, corporate outreach and/or supervisory experience.
- Excellence in writing proposals.
- Love of public broadcasting and its service mission.
